Photos: Old Starter

These photos show the starter as I received it installed in the plane when I bought the plane.  We initially had a great deal of trouble getting the engine to start properly. I still can not believe the completely disgusting condition of this starter.  A good friend, and A&P, and neighbor... Ken Rhoden helped me try to diagnose the engine starter problem before before we took the starter off to find what we found.  Without even asking... my good friend Ken offered to take a look at the stater, and open it up to check things out.  After a few days... a week or two maybe, he called and asked for me to come over to his hanger and take a look at my starter... He had completely rebuilt the starter for me inside and out, top to bottom.  And boom.... no more starting problems.... wonder why? <G>  Thanks Ken!
